An Amazon press release said its store offers more than 35,000 French-language Kindle books and to help readers get into the e-book habit it’s also launching a 99 euro French-language Kindle reader which, the company describes as “the smallest, lightest and most affordable Kindle ever”.

The company adds: “The French Kindle Store’s vast selection of content includes popular titles from best-selling authors such as Katherine Pancol, Delphine de Vigan, Harlan Coben, Stéphane Hessel, Haruki Murakami, Françoise Bourdin and Michel Houellebecq in a wide range of categories.

If you don’t want to buy a portable Kindle reader you can download a free version for multiple desktop and handheld devices such as your home PC, the iPad, iPod touch, iPhone, PC, Mac and Android-based devices. The books themselves are downloaded from the Kindle site via broadband.

By the way if you are planning to buy a Kindle reader do order it through our online store, that way we get a small commission and may we thank you kindly or would that be Kindley.
