
European Film Awards, Berlin 2011
Nominations for feature films in competition for the 24th European
Academy Film Awards, will be announced shortly. The ceremony will
take place in Berlin on 3rd December 2011

Ewan McGregor wins the 2010 Best Actor

for his role in The Ghost Writer
In the 2010 competition, controversy rained as fugitive from US
justice, Roman Polanski's The Ghost Writer, scoope 6 of the top
awards , including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor. Polanski
was unable to attend for fear of arrest! (see

Animated Feature Film 2011 Nominee
Feature film nominations, together with the major prize categories,
such as Best Director, Best Actor etc., take place on 5th November
2011. As we go to press, nominations in four categories have been
announnced: Documentary, Discovery, Animated Feature, Short Film.

We will be publishing a full list of nominees, together with
trailers for the nominated movies, week commencing 7th November.
Like their American cousin, the European Film Academy membership
is drawn from film industry professionals. It is these members,
some 2,300 European filmakers, who vote in all the categories.
Unlike the American "Oscars" however, the EFA also allow
members of the public to vote for their favourite film in a special
category The People's Choice Award.
