Festivals 2010 – Cahors Blues meets Africajarc
Bands and performers of all stripes and flavours woo the crowds with Jazz and Les Blues, playing a prominent part.
Apart from a full programme downloadable here Cahors Blues Festival (10-17 July 2010 in Cahors on the Lot river) offers a Springboard for new Blues talents with the finals this year on Tuesday, July 13 and a Master Class for the Blues in partnership with the Cahors Music School, launched in January 2010.
Up river the town of Cajarc hosts what is now a major festival of African jazz and culture with the opening highlight on Thursday, July 22 featuring the Evening Slamophonie.
On July 22 Chengetai, the new “Miriam Makeba”, a young singer from Zimbabwe living in South Africa, offers Afro-soul-folk in Shona.
Elsewhere festivals continue deep into Autumn.

In October Toulouse is the venue for the annual Organ festival where world-renowned organists come to play major works in the organ repertoire on some of the great church organs of south west France.
Toulouse les Orgues is organising a brand-new programme: a cycle of 10 recitals covering the complete organ works of J.S. Bach. Francis Jacob, Bernard Foccroulle, Jan Willem Jansen, Michel Bouvard and Benjamin Alard will each take their turn at the keyboards of the Augustins organ (21, Rue de Metz, Toulouse).
The 15th edition of the Festival takes place between 7 and 17th October 2010
In BESANÇON FRANCHE-COMTÉ the classical music festival has a long tradition and is a showcase for rising stars and new talent.
BESANÇON FRANCHE-COMTÉ holds its 63rd INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF MUSIC BESANÇON from 16 to 26 September 2010 under the artistic direction of two particularly outstanding figures in the music world: Sir Andrew Davis, Associate Artist 2010/2011, and Michael Jarrell , composer in residence 2010/2011.
