Documenting the Drama: Why Mutti Merkel Could Well Become the Nemesis of Europe

Part One asked could Europe’s migrant crisis herald the collapse of a Community set up to stop Germany ever again destroying Europe? The links below relate to reports, images and video clips on the Internet that underline the concern.

Health warning: The bias in this piece is more towards the views of those opposed than those for this migratory wave. The mainstream media, especially TV, has inundated the ether with the official view; the effort here aims to help redress the balance.

Daily Mail:
The folly of Europe’s hand-wringing elite: In this courageously controversial article, a leading Left-wing voice says misguided compassion is only making the migrant catastrophe worse. “The rich north of Europe is pitted against the poorer east, and liberal-minded, well-educated citizens diverge from the silent majority who still think that charity begins at home, even if it doesn’t end there in a crisis like this one. How did we get to this crisis point? Unnoticed by most Europeans, the asylum rules have widened since 2004 so anyone in the world at risk of ‘serious harm… by reasons of indiscriminate violence in situations of international or internal armed conflict’ can claim protection — which in practice means permanent residence — in an EU country. This fine sentiment worked only so long as relatively small numbers of people were able to reach Europe to claim that protection. But when border controls in southern Europe collapsed a few months ago and word got out in the Syrian refugee camps, and among thousands of others in Iraq, Afghanistan, Eritrea and parts of sub-Saharan Africa, the great caravan began to roll. Riding the wave of sympathy triggered by the photograph of drowned toddler Aylan Kurdi, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel then exacerbated the situation by unilaterally declaring all Syrians would be welcome in Germany, and not returned to their country of first arrival, as EU rules require. (Though official figures yesterday revealed that in the past four months, just one in five of those seeking asylum across Europe has been Syria) …”

Merkel’s popularity slumps
Chancellor Angela Merkel’s popularity has slumped to its lowest level in nearly four years, a sign of the public’s cooling attitude towards the refugee wave. She was initially celebrated at home and abroad for her welcoming approach to the refugees. But as the flow has continued and German facilities have been stretched to the limit, she has come under increasing criticism. Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere has also warned about violence in asylum-seeker centers. Speaking on broadcaster ZDF on Thursday, he said that while refugees were thankful to be in Germany until recently, that had changed for some now. “They go on strike because they don’t like the accommodation and they cause trouble because they don’t like the food. They beat each other in the facilities for asylum seekers,” he said.

Breitbart:
Austria expects migrants will cost seven times its defence budget. Secret documents from the Austrian finance ministry have been leaked, forecasting the nation could take in as many as 215,000 migrants over four years. That influx could cost more than €12 billion to the Austrian taxpayer – seven times more that the annual defence budget. The secret documents were leaked to Austrian broadcaster ORF. They forecast that if Austria admits an estimated 85,000 migrants in 2015 and a further 130,000 in 2016, it will cost around €6.5 billion over four years… Austria’s anti-mass migration Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) doubled its vote share and number of seats in Monday’s state elections in Upper Austria, the country’s leading industrial region.

800 messages of concern from German women. Germany’s deputy CDU leader Julia Klöckner says she has received more than 800 messages from German women describing unnerving experiences with Muslim men among the newly arrived migrants. In one email a mother reported she had been insulted at her daughter’s school when she tried to speak with a veiled Muslim parent asking if she could help her. She was answered she said by a man who said “My wife does not speak the language of the unclean”. When asked, who is unclean, he replied that I was unclean. I asked him what that meant and was told it was nothing personal, because all German women are unclean and his wife is not allowed to speak the language of the unclean, so as to keep her pure.

Germany’s Sharia Refugee Shelters “Bulk of Migrants Cannot Be Integrated”
Christians, Kurds and Yazidis in the shelters are being attacked by Muslims with increasing frequency and ferocity. “I fled from the Iranian secret service because I thought that in Germany I could finally live my faith without persecution. But in the refugee shelter, I cannot admit that I am a Christian, or I would face threats… They treat me like an animal. They threaten to kill me.” — An Iranian Christian in a German refugee shelter. “We have to dispense with the illusion that all of those who are coming here are human rights activists. … We are getting reports of threats of aggression, including threats of beheading, by Sunnis against Shiites, but Yazidis and Christians are the most impacted. Those Christian converts who do not hide their faith stand a 100% probability of being attacked and mobbed.” — Max Klingberg, director of the Frankfurt-based International Society for Human Rights.

Undercutting wages is a good reason to welcome migrants. Christians “massively harassed” by Muslim groups. Women, children and religious minorities must be better protected in Germany’s migrant camps, the head of the policing union has said. Fighting between ethnic and religious groups within the camps has intensified in recent weeks as the migrant population has swelled. Rainer Wendt, chairman of the German Police Union has told German media that Christians in particular are to be placed “under special protection” as they are being harassed massively by Muslim groups. Women and children should also be protected, he said, as they too were vulnerable, Der Spiegel reports.

German government seeks tightened asylum measures. The government has sent tightened asylum measures to the Bundestag for debate. Chancellor Angela Merkel’s support has slipped over concerns about her handling of asylum as anti-migrant groups have taken to the streets. Germany’s government approved new asylum measures Tuesday, including a tightening of its policy on “safe countries” of origin, which generally rejects migrants from certain nations . The cabinet also agreed to steps to provide more housing and support for unaccompanied minors and to speed up processing of asylum applications, as well as deporting people who are turned down.

Repeated sexual harassment of asylum seekers in Erfurt. The Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) has filed complaints about unsustainable conditions for asylum seekers in Erfurt. They write of repeated sexual harassment and men urinating on the floors, in an internal report by the leading sanitation officers of the Territorial Task Commando that has been labeled ‘classified’. In the document the appointed custodial sanitation medic of the Bundeswehr reports that “the halls are being cleaned twice a day. Yet the condition of the floors is not OK in my view, because garbage is being thrown on the floors over and over again. It is routine for men to urinate in whatever corner they find. In the sleeping accommodations it has become a daily occurrence that single women are being urinated on by male persons from other countries, even as the women are sleeping. Sexual harassment occurs daily.”

Immigration leads to lower wages for British workers, says Labour’s Andy Burnham. Immigration may help the economy but it leads to “wages undercut and job security lost” for some low-income workers, according to Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary. Labour must “face up” to the fact that immigration has made the UK a more unequal society, he said in a blunt message to Labour’s annual conference.

Xenophobic rallies and clashes shook several German towns at weekend … German spy chief Hans-Georg Maassen warned that the far-right is becoming increasingly radicalised as a result of the country’s decision to allow up to a million refugees in this year. ‘What we’re seeing in connection with the refugee crisis is a mobilisation on the street of right-wing extremists, but also of some left-wing extremists who oppose them,’ said Hans-Georg Maassen … Conservative politicians back the calls for separated refugee centres, claiming Christians in the homes are being harassed and persecuted by hardline Muslims.

Human trafficking in refugees. Smugglers rule camps in northern France Tiny Teteghem, France, at centre of increasingly violent trade in asylum-seekers from Syria and Iraq Few French know of the town of Teteghem, but some migrants first heard the name in a phone call before ever leaving their homeland. It is described by Mayor Dhersin and others as a drop-off point for a band of people smugglers taking in Syrians, Iraqis and Iranians; ultimately, officials believe, the gang is locked into a Britain-based network that may stretch to Kurdish regions of the Middle East. The migrants are among thousands of desperate travellers who pass through northern France trying to sneak onto trucks, ferries or freight trains to Britain, where they hope to find a better life. ‘Criminals who would normally deal with drugs … are making criminal profits out of the migrant crisis.’ – Europol’s Robert Crepinko Robert Crepinko, head of the Organized Crime Network at Europol, the European Union’s law enforcement agency, estimates there are roughly 30,000 suspected people smugglers operating in the 28-nation EU, with most living within the bloc. Some smugglers even advertise their services on social networks like Facebook, he said. Crepinko says the current influx of migrants has opened new business opportunities in the organized crime world.

EU Commission did not cause the chaos says Avramopoulos.  Dimitris Avramopoulos the European commissioner in charge of the contentious migration issue, and the man steering EU policy to deal with an exodus of refugees from the Middle East and Africa that has reached almost biblical proportions, said those who argue that the Commission caused the chaos are misguided.  On Tuesday a meeting of interior ministers approved a controversial relocation of 120,000 refugees — over the strong objection of several countries — and on Wednesday a summit of EU leaders moved toward stronger control of Europe’s external borders. But Avramopoulos said it would be a mistake to compare the aquarium of these two achievements with the sea of problems Europe is facing.

In a defiant rejection of diktats from Europe’s high command, the country’s right-wing government said it was not interested in “lectures” from the European Union about taking in Middle Eastern refugees … Frans Timmermans, the Dutch vice-president of the European Commission, said that “diversity was the future of the world,” and that Eastern European nations would just have to “get used to that.” … Mr Orban’s spokesman, Zoltán Kovács, responded by saying that integration in much of Western Europe had been at best a limited success. Hungary, he said, felt neither the wish nor the obligation to follow suit.

Dark Germany, Bright Germany: Which Side Will Prevail Under Strain of Refugees? Germany is experiencing an unprecedented influx of immigrants who will fundamentally change the country. They represent a burden, but also a chance to create a New Germany, one that is more cosmopolitan and generous …  Germany, in this late summer of 2015, can be a confusing place. Anger is in the air. Angela Merkel has come to Heidenau and the locals are lined up to see her. But it is anything but a friendly welcome: It is a crowd full of hate. Gauck said “our hearts are wide open,” but Germany faces difficulties housing refugees and providing schooling and other services amid budget constraints. “Our absorption capacity is limited, even if it has not yet been decided where these limits lie,” Gauck said … Germany’s domestic spy chief Hans-Georg Maassen added that the intelligence service had noticed “a greater willingness to use violence” by far-right, left-wing and Islamist extremists.

Germany Segregating Christians As Migrant Violence Escalates. Christian migrants in German asylum centres are living under persistent threat, with many fearing for their lives as the hardline Sunni majority within the migrant population attempts to enforce Sharia law in their new host nation. The situation is so bad that Christians claim they live like “prisoners” in Germany, and some have even returned to Middle East. In the German state of Thuringia, Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow has been forced to initiate a policy of separating and segregating different cultures as soon as they arrive in Europe. Germany is preparing to absorb a million people in just twelve months – one per cent of its entire population – from numerous, diverse and alien cultures. “We must rid ourselves of the illusion that all those who arrive here are human rights activists,” says Max Klingberg of the International Society for Human Rights (ISHR).

Independent:

Angela Merkel facing migrant policy backlash. Angela Merkel’s open-door migrant policy and her calls for a “culture of welcome” are facing a growing backlash from within her party. Germany’s police said accommodation for refugees should be divided along religious and ethnic lines after violent clashes between refugee groups at asylum centres in recent days. The latest violence occurred on Sunday night at a “tent city” housing 1,500 migrants in the town of Calden, north of Frankfurt. Police said rival groups of Pakistani and Albanian refugees attacked each other with clubs. Fourteen people were injured in the clashes, which were broken up by police using teargas and pepper spray. “Between 60 and 70 people were involved. They attacked each other with clubs and threw things at each other,” a police spokesman said. The incident followed similar violence on Friday at an asylum centre near Leipzig, where 200 Syrian and Afghan migrants attacked each other with table legs, bed frames and sticks after a dispute about who should be allowed to use one of the few lavatories provided in the accommodation first.

USING MIGRANTS TO BASH EAST GERMANS.  The migrant crisis has exposed the deep east-west antagonism in German society. For a few weeks, Germans lived through a period of political fantasy. There was much talk of a ‘September fairytale’ as cheering crowds welcomed refugees in Munich and other cities. So great was people’s enthusiasm that surprisingly little attention was paid to an important anniversary: 25 years ago, on 31 August, the reunification treaty was signed. It sealed the fate of the former East Germany, which henceforth became part of a reunified Germany by accession. It is a pity that this anniversary was ignored because one of the things the refugee crisis has brought to light is that, 25 years later, Germany is still divided. But politics is not a fairytale. The reality check came abruptly on the eve of 13 September, when the government announced it would reinstate border control with Austria.

Germany: Migrants’ Rape Epidemic “We Are the Biggest Brothel in Munich”. According to an editorial comment in the newspaper Westfalen-Blatt, police are refusing to go public about crimes involving refugees and migrants because they do not want to give legitimacy to critics of mass migration. U.S. Soldiers Told to Ignore Sexual Abuse of Boys by Afghan Allies In his last phone call home, Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. told his father what was troubling him: From his bunk in southern Afghanistan, he could hear Afghan police officers sexually abusing boys they had brought to the base. “At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” the Marine’s father, Gregory Buckley Sr., recalled his son telling him before he was shot to death at the base in 2012. He urged his son to tell his superiors. “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture.” Rampant sexual abuse of children has long been a problem in Afghanistan, particularly among armed commanders who dominate much of the rural landscape and can bully the population. The practice is called bacha bazi, literally “boy play,” and American soldiers and Marines have been instructed not to intervene — in some cases, not even when their Afghan allies have abused boys on military bases, according to interviews and court records.

Hungary rejects chorus of criticism on border moves. Hungary angrily rejected a growing chorus of criticism of its handling of Wednesday’s clashes, which left 14 police injured. Neighbours Greece, Serbia and Croatia joined the UN in blasting Hungary’s use of water cannon and tear gas against migrants as “unacceptable”. But Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto rejected the world’s reading of the events as “bizarre”, saying that “aggressive” migrants had been responsible for the violent clashes with police by throwing stones, sticks and plastic bottles. “Hungary will defend its borders no matter what outrageous criticism it gets from whomever in the international political elite,” Szijjarto said.

Why Do Muslims Flock to The “Evil West”? Millions of Muslims are trying to reach the borders of a civilization they have historically blamed for all the world’s evils, including in their own countries’. Muslims in this part of the world view the Christian West as “evil;” yet they know Christian lands are the most decent places to live economically and politically… Wealthy Arab states rigidly turn their back on the plight of fellow Muslims who are in need of a helping hand; and Islamist hypocrites blame it all on the West. Sadly, no one questions why “West-hating” Muslims go West… or why non-Muslims should pay the price for exclusively intra-Muslim wars and the wave of migrants they create.

A Belated Welcome in France Is Drawing Few Migrants Fear, belated expressions of welcome and refusals to yield have all greeted Europe’s migrant crisis in France, with the French far right even comparing the influx to the barbarian invasions in the fourth century. But amid the apocalyptic warnings, a wounding fact has been largely passed over in silence by politicians here: The migrants are voting with their feet, and they are not choosing France. National pride barely acknowledges it. But tens of thousands of Syrians and Iraqis are streaming toward Germany, while only a comparative handful make their way here. Migrants crowding onto the trains in Hungary shout, “Germany, Germany!” But they do not shout, “France, France.”

We are getting Islamised’ – Sweden’s firebrand MP. In an exclusive interview, one of Sweden’s most high profile members of parliament talks politics, culture, and voluntary repatriation for migrants. 34-year-old Kent Ekeroth doesn’t look exactly like what you would expect of a senior member of a European political party. Sweden Democrats Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson could head the largest party in the country after the next election, but the leaders of Sweden’s other parties are determined to keep him out of power… Kent was forthright: “This happened for one reason: immigration. People accuse the Sweden democrats of being a one issue party, but what they don’t realise is that everything comes back to this one issue. When it comes to criminality, economics, healthcare, schools, you name it. “Hand grenades, rapes, violence, it all comes with immigration, to put it simply. It isn’t immigration from Norwegians or British people – it is from Middle Eastern and African Muslims.”

No lodgings for Syrians in Paris . Nearly 100 Syrian refugees are currently staying at a makeshift camp in the Porte de Saint-Ouen in northern Paris, where they live in squalor while awaiting asylum…Khadra left Syria with her husband and children two years ago. “We had a good life, before the war,” she remembers. For the last two months, however, she has been sleeping in a tent on the dirty pavement near the Porte de Saint-Ouen in northern Paris. Tents first began appearing at the site, which lies near a busy motorway, in March 2014, but were cleared away after the government granted papers to Syrian refugees living there. Since then, a new camp has sprung up in its place, with about 80 people now living in a few dozen tents on a traffic island separating the street from a bus lane. Some refugees have been there for months, others have just arrived.

German officials talk of faux syrians. Germany’s recent, surprise announcement of renewed border controls seems a direct consequence of its ill-fated decision to throw open its gates to all Syrians, a policy that has been fraught with problems from the outset. Since Syrians enjoy a privileged status, suddenly everyone applying for asylum turns out to be Syrian. In a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Minister of the Interior of the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lorenz Caffier, confirmed suspicions about the origin of many supposed Syrian refugees. “At least a quarter of those refugees allegedly coming from Syria are not from Syria, but from other Arab or African countries,” said Caffier. Caffier’s statement echoes the experience of Rainer Wendt, head of the German Police Union: “Almost without exception, every refugee pretends to be a Syrian when in fact, many come from other countries, even from sub-Saharan Africa,” he said. “All present themselves as Syrians,” said a police officer stationed in Bavaria to Spiegel Online, “even if they are obviously black Africans.” The discovery echoes comments made by the chief of the European border force FRONTEX, who said last week, “A lot of people get into Turkey [with] Syrian fake papers, because they know that they’ll get easier asylum in the EU… People who use these fake passports, speak mostly Arabic. They come from North Africa, the Middle East, but are economic refugees”.

Well, that deteriorated quickly. Last week Angela Merkel was laying down the law to Europe and saying Germany was going to welcome 800,000 migrants across its border before the end of the year. The implication was that if Germany could do that, so could everyone else. Here we are today and Europe’s borders are crumbling with the Schengen zone in tatters. Germany has been warned to expect closer to one million inbound migrants while the rest of the EU has been told – not asked – to take some of that load or be financially punished by Berlin. Clearly, as happened during the recent Greek financial crisis, Germany is in charge here and everyone else will just have to keep up. Some are now (finally) begging to differ though. Here is a tweet by the Czech Minister of the Interior in the cabinet of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka. In translation that is: ‘Currently the biggest problem in solving migration policy is an inconsistent Germany. Even showing muscles to neighbours across the border will not hide it!’ Throwing open your national doors to everybody is not immigration policy. It is cultural suicide. Angel Merkel’s the cause of that and now the rest of the EU is starting to realise it too

Guardian:

Refugees scramble for ways into Europe as Hungary seals borders. For a few fleeting minutes, there was some humanity in the darkness. It had turned midnight on the Serbian side of the Hungarian border, the time that Hungary had said it would close its borders for the final time to refugees. A fortified border fence had finally been finished. At the fence’s weakest point, where refugees had for weeks walked into Hungary along a set of disused railway tracks, police had blocked the way with the carriage of a freight train. Yet even after the clock struck 12, Hungary seemed to soften, letting a few hundred stragglers enter its territory via a legal foot-crossing that lies in Horgoš, a mile to the west of those train tracks. At 10 minutes past midnight, there were still families running, limping and panting up the road that leads to the border gate. More than 160,000 people had crossed this line so far this year and no one wanted to be the first to be turned away. “I’m hoping, hoping, hoping,” said Badr, a 47-year-old Syrian engineer, as he neared the final stretch. “We lost everything in Syria – homes, friends, and family. We need to pass through this border.” So began a day in which Fortress Europe began to pull up the few drawbridges still open

After all the emotional euphoria, questions begin to be asked about where the truth lies.
Daily Mail:

How many are genuine? As Europe locks down its borders, eye witnesses claim fewer than a third of refugees who have made it to Germany are Syrian – and some are even ISIS infiltrators. Refugees who are fleeing areas of Syria torn apart by war say they are being joined by thousands of impostors. Desperate refugees claim as many as seven in every ten migrants heading to Europe are lying about their past. The relentless flow of migrants has overwhelmed the EU mainland, with Germany temporarily shutting its borders with Austria, Slovakia and Holland pledging tighter border controls and Hungary completing a razor-wire fence. Chain-smoking outside a coffee bar in Germany’s capital, young Syrian Mohammad Al-Abaan bangs his hand loudly on the table as three teenage girls walk past in Islamic robes. ‘Look at them!’ he says. ‘They pretend to be migrants from my country, but they lie. Their skin is blacker than ours. I know they are Arab-speaking Muslims from Sudan in Africa. Every day, more Africans, Afghanis, Iraqis, Iranians, Lebanese, and lots of others, slip through the door opened by Germany to us Syrians.’ These are strong words, particularly as Mohammad has only just set foot in Europe himself, arriving in Berlin a week ago by train from Hungary with his friend Ismail Gannom. The United Nations High Commission for Refugees estimated that only half of the 381,000 people who have landed this year in Italy and Greece — the two main entry points for migrants — are Syrian. Others come from all over the Middle East and Africa. With a shrinking and ageing population — and a desperate need to expand its workforce — Germany’s original welcome call to Syrians is viewed by some as not purely selfless.

Beware the fake migrant images shared online. The arrival of tens of thousands of migrants in Europe has prompted an avalanche of false information and fake images posted on social media, often by far-right Internet users. They aim to use whatever means they can to convince people that these migrants should not be welcomed. FRANCE 24 ‘s Observers debunk a few of these lies. Ultra-conservative websites like Fdesouche, Dreuz.info, and the Observateurs.ch (not to be confused with FRANCE 24’s Observers) are using social media to push their anti-immigration views with false information. Here are just a few of the methods they have used over the past days. Conspiracy theory: “The picture of Aylan Kurdi was staged to sway public opinion” Aylan Kurdi, a 3-year-old Syrian boy, drowned along with his mother and brother after their boat sank during their journey from Turkey to Greece. The photo of his body, which washed up on a Turkish beach, prompted an international outcry. But some Internet users think it was staged. According to several websites with close ties to extremist groups, the police – who took the photo – moved Aylan’s body to a more “photogenic” spot on the beach. As proof, they share this photo, in which a police officer squats above the body of a child. They claim this child is Aylan, before his body was moved. However, this photo does not show Aylan – it actually shows his older brother, Galip, who was found dead a few hundred metres away from Aylan. You can see that their shoes are not the same colour: Galip’s are red, while Aylan’s are black. Other photos of the brothers confirm this, and also show that they wore different coloured T-shirts.

Daily Mail:
Was Aylan Kurdi’s father working with people smugglers?.SECOND passenger claims Aylan Kurdi’s father was working with people smugglers and was driving the boat on which his son died Second person on same boat as Aylan Kurdi says boy’s father was driver Last week, Zainab Abbas said Abdullah Kurdi was a people smuggler Passenger Amir Haider has confirmed allegations the father was the driver Mr Kurdi denied claims and said he paid the same amount to the traffickers. A second passenger on board the boat that claimed the life of Syrian refugee Aylan Kurdi says the boy’s father was driving. Amir Haider, 22, repeated allegations that Abdullah Kurdi, who lost his wife and two children in the tragedy, was at the helm of the boat until it sank. Last week, another passenger, Zainab Abbas, whose son and daughter died on the doomed boat trip, first made the claims, which were vehemently denied by Mr Kurdi. Aylan, three, died alongside his brother Galip, five, and mother, when their boat capsized on route to the Greek island of Kos. The photograph of his tiny body washed up on a beach in Bodrum, Turkey, sparked a global outpouring of support for Syrian refugees as well as his grieving father.

Things the Media Won’t Report About the Refugee Crisis. Info Wars has a reputation for being an absolutely off the wall website. Nevertheless some of the points raised in this video by Info Wars’ Paul Joseph Watson are among talking points found by the dozen on conservative and far right websites and thus acts as a kind of summary of the views in these quarters. The video is reposted below for this reason alone.

Reuters via Vice News:

Hungary’s New Migrant Crackdown Might Breach UN and EU Rules. A Hungarian crackdown on migrants crossing its southern frontier “looks like” a contravention of its obligations under United Nations and European Union (EU) rules on refugees and asylum, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said on Tuesday. Crowds of people built up at a razor-wire fence clamoring for entry into the EU on Tuesday, but faced swift rejection under new Hungarian restrictions on the bloc’s inundated eastern border. Hungary “has obligations to follow which it looks like this new legislation would be a contravention of,” Magdalena Majkowska-Tomkin, head of the Hungary office of the IOM told Reuters. “Both the international UN conventions on the status of refugees, but also EU legislation regarding asylum and also regarding criminal procedures.” Majkowska-Tomkin said the IOM saw scope for a legal challenge to the new rules: “From my perspective Hungary needs to respect its international obligations and allow people to claim asylum and provide facilities for them that are adequate for their condition.”

Zero Hedge:

Zero Hedge predicts its all coming to a sticky end. AP reminds us that “the 28-nation bloc has been at odds with itself for months on how to deal with the influx that has seen more than 332,000 migrants enter so far this year. Frontline nations like Greece, Italy and Hungary have pleaded for more help, while powerhouse Germany, which is expecting to take in 800,000 migrants this year, the most in the EU, has demanded that other nations step up and take in more asylum-seekers.” The most recent manifestations of this crisis are beginning to impact Europe logistically: as reported yesterday, hundreds of migrants chanted defiant slogans outside Budapest’s main international train station for a second day as Hungarian police blocked them from seeking asylum in Germany and other wealthy European Union countries. Over in France, the BBC reports that up to 2,000 Eurostar passengers have had their journeys disrupted after migrants got on to train tracks near the Channel Tunnel in France.

Deutsche Welle:

Using social media the migrants have passed the word along avoid Bulgaria, they hate Muslims. That most of the refugees are Muslim is seen as irritating the Bulgarians all the more. The country’s own national identity is shaped in large part by the oversimplified legend of the so-called “500-year Turkish yoke,” a remnant of the days when Bulgaria was part of the Ottoman Empire. The lingering animosity of that era could be seen in the dozens of posts that originated from Bulgaria in reply to DW’s recent opinion poll on Facebook. “We don’t want them here! The Muslims butchered us like chickens for 500 years,” can be read, or: “Go away! We have enough problems with our gypsies that call themselves Roma or Turks.”

Washington Post:
We’ve been taken for mugs in EU manufactured Crisis No 874 Merkel resembles a teenager who posts about a party on Facebook, and then is surprised when half the town turns up. So the Germans can suspend Schengen when its suits them, but pilloried the Hungarians who did just that the week before! I see the Slovakians have told the EU and Germany to get stuffed. “The Slovakian government recently announced that it would help share the burden of the influx of tens of thousands of migrants into Europe by taking in 200 Syrian refugees. That’s a small number, but it was made all the more glaring by another stipulation — these refugees had to be Christian. “In Slovakia, we don’t have mosques,” an Interior Ministry spokesman told the Wall Street Journal. Therefore, the official said, “we only want to choose the Christians.” I wonder how many economic migrants (sorry refugees) would be so eager to end up in Europe, if the other EU nations did the same? I feel sorry for these people, America and Britain destabilised a region, but the Germans by doing what they have done, have been exceptionally stupid, far better if they had given more aid to the people in the camps in the Middle East. Instead of encouraging this exodus, now they are just pawns in a game. Notable too, that the Gulf States and Saudi have not lifted a finger for these ‘Refugees’ either, although Saudi Arabia offered to pay for 200 Mosques in Germany. All of which points to the Saudi’s real aim, colonisation. Now the whole of Europe will have to deal with the consequences of Germany’s hubris, and on current form, its not going to have a happy ending, as I can see this fuelling the rise of the far right. All thanks to German hubris. But her plan succeeded. The EU and Germany wanted Europe flooded with migrants, the Eastern Europeans said No Thank You. The EU and Germany wanted enforced quotas, the Easter Europeans and the many said No Thank You. So Merkel acted. Today all of those country’s who said No Thank You find themselves flooded with immigrants Merkel invited and now that all the borders are up, it seems they are stuck with them. Of course now that almost all of Europe has been flooded with Merkel’s migrants they are going to need a European Solution, a European Solution that two weeks ago nobody wanted or would agree to because the borders didn’t suddenly go up to stem the migrants, the borders went up to inconvenience and pîss off Europe’s citizens who will soon demand a European Solution! So, from one staged photo of a dead baby that broke the rules of physics when it washed up on a beach perpendicular to the waves and spotlessly clean (bodies wash up parallel to waves and end up covered in sand and salt as the waves roll them up then down multiple times with the wave motion) Angela Merkel uses manufactured emotional outrage as an excuse to grand stand and flood Europe with immigrants that nobody wanted and now they’ll get their European Solution that just two weeks ago no one would agree to. We’ve been taken for mugs in EU manufactured Crisis No 874.

TV2 News via Breitbart:

The asylum shopping and choosy migrants. Middle Eastern migrants are rejecting Denmark as a country in which to seek asylum, claiming that the “salaries” offered to “refugees” are not as high as other European countries. They are now demanding to go to Sweden or Finland as the terms of asylum there are more favourable. In a report by Denmark’s TV2 News, migrants told a local journalist that they do not want to stay in Denmark, but are choosing instead to head to Sweden to register for asylum. Speaking conversational English, one migrant told the reporter “We want Sweden.” When she puts it to him that Sweden is 500km (310miles), he smiles and replies: “No problem. We walked from Syria to here [with] no problem.” Marwen el Mohammed, another asylum seeker in Denmark told the reporter that there were two reasons the men did not want to seek asylum in Denmark, a peaceful country.

Express:
Migrants REFUSE to claim asylum in Denmark – because they don’t get enough BENEFITS . MIGRANTS are refusing to accept asylum in Denmark because the benefits offered to them are not as good as in other European countries. Refugees from Middle Eastern countries – like war-torn Syria – are demanding they are allowed to go to Sweden or Finland because the terms of asylum are more favourable for them. Asylum seeker Marwen el Mohammed said there are two reasons migrants do not want to go to Denmark. Mohammed claimed the first reason is that “the salary for refugees decreased about 50 per cent from 10,000 kroner (£1,000) to about 5,000 (£500)”.

One of the principal objections voiced by European taxpayers and voters to the migrant onslaught is that Germany apart, Europe has largely yet to emerge from eight years of recession. In some areas youth unemployment is as high as 50% which can only be called a crime against the next generation. Competition for scarce jobs from millions of migrants is hardly likely to be welcome in such circumstances.

The legal definitions involved in reporting this crisis are important yet the media has to a large extent, played fast and loose with words like ‘refugees’, ‘migrants’, ‘asylum seekers’, ‘economic migrants’, etc. Here is the UNHCR definition:
UNCHR:

Refugees vs migrants. Refugees are persons fleeing armed conflict or persecution. There were 19.5 million of them worldwide at the end of 2014. Their situation is often so perilous and intolerable that they cross national borders to seek safety in nearby countries, and thus become internationally recognized as “refugees” with access to assistance from States, UNHCR, and other organizations. They are so recognized precisely because it is too dangerous for them to return home, and they need sanctuary elsewhere. These are people for whom denial of asylum has potentially deadly consequences. Refugees are defined and protected in international law. The 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol as well as other legal texts, such as the 1969 OAU Refugee Convention, remain the cornerstone of modern refugee protection. The legal principles they enshrine have permeated into countless other international, regional, and national laws and practices. The 1951 Convention defines who is a refugee and outlines the basic rights which States should afford to refugees. One of the most fundamental principles laid down in international law is that refugees should not be expelled or returned to situations where their life and freedom would be under threat. Migrants choose to move not because of a direct threat of persecution or death, but mainly to improve their lives by finding work, or in some cases for education, family reunion, or other reasons. Unlike refugees who cannot safely return home, migrants face no such impediment to return. If they choose to return home, they will continue to receive the protection of their government.

YouTube:
French opposition politician Brice Hortefeux tell French TV the real number of migrants arriving in France each year is 300,000 or the size of the city of Nantes. They are split between asylum seekers, unaccompanied children, migrants and undocumented illegals.

No-Pasaran:

Why is the Islamic world not taking its fair share of Muslim refugees? Instead of rushing to grant asylum to hundreds of thousands of nameless Syrian refugees, the Western world should seek solutions in the Middle East — and urge the vaunted Islamic “ummah” to take in its own refugees… Before the West mainlines Muslim immigrants into its veins, it’s worthwhile to stop and ask two questions: First, why the media focus on the humanitarian crisis now? Second, who are these refugees? Why The Focus Now? Europe’s refugee crisis has unfolded over the last year, but only now seems to have broken through into mainstream media coverage. That coverage sprang from a viral photo of a three-year-old Syrian boy’s corpse washed up on the beaches of Turkey. According to media coverage, the boy’s mother and brother drowned as well, while his father lived. The photo certainly breaks your heart. But where were all the photos of gassed children from Bashar Assad’s Syria when President Obama drew a red line, and then promptly violated it? Where are all the photos of babies beheaded by ISIS? Why did this photo make the front pages? The answer: the other photos would have driven more Middle East involvement from the West. The current photo does not. It merely demands that Europe accept more Muslims from the Middle East into its midst, without solving any of the underlying problems driving the refugee crisis in the first place. It pushes the notion that the West somehow owes membership to people who may very well reject the most basic tenets of the West … It is deeply suspicious that major Muslim countries that do not border Syria refuse to take in large numbers of refugees, except for Algeria and Egypt. Turkey has taken in nearly two million refugees, according to the United Nations, and keeps the vast majority in refugee camps. Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq have taken in hundreds of thousands of refugees as well, but all border the chaotic, collapsing Syria, and thus have limited choice in the matter. Iran has taken in no refugees. Neither have Pakistan, Indonesia, or any of the other dozens of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain all refused to take any refugees, and explicitly cited the risk of terrorists among the refugees, according to The Guardian (UK).
